For some time now, Cisco and Microsoft have been partnering closely to integrate their respective collaboration platforms - Cisco Webex and Microsoft Teams. This integration has allowed users of both platforms to seamlessly communicate and collaborate with each other, regardless of which platform they are using.
Many of Calystro's customers have benefited from the integration between Cisco Webex and Microsoft Teams, which enables their team to schedule and join Webex meetings directly from the Teams interface. This means that users can easily join Webex meetings without leaving the Microsoft Teams app, and they can also access Webex features such as screen sharing and recording from within Teams. Since the release of RoomOS 11, customers who use Cisco Desk, Board, or Room devices have been enjoying a simple 'one button to push' experience, where these incredible meeting room devices can join Webex or Microsoft Teams calls with a simple press of a button.
Late last year, Microsoft announced that they were working with Cisco to take platform integration a step further. This new type of integration would enable certain Cisco meeting room devices to be natively registered to the Microsoft Teams cloud. That's now possible with the release of the latest version of Cisco RoomOS.
Customer benefits include:
That's great news for customers who have bought into the Microsoft 365 experience, but want to deliver a superb meeting room experience, thanks to Cisco's industry-leading devices.
The following Cisco devices have been certified for Microsoft Teams registration:
When a Cisco device is registered to the Microsoft Team platform, the device runs a native Microsoft experience. Although this does limit the meeting room from joining Webex, Zoom, or Google Meet meetings, some of our customers who use Microsoft 365 and Teams exclusively have told us they prefer this experience over Cisco RoomOS.
If your business runs Microsoft 365 and relies on Teams to collaborate and you'd like to explore how to create a seamless physical meeting room experience for your team, this new integration could be a great option.
